Dignity Is Our Foundation
The Sewing Hope Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We have a focused, vital mission: to support Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe and her programs in Northern Uganda and South Sudan as she educates and cares for the women and children who were victimized by Joseph Kony and his Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA).
Our funds and resources act as a support structure, helping Sister Rosemary dedicate her life to healing, educating, and empowering the countless women and children who have been impacted by war and its lasting societal effects.
A Generation in Need
For decades, Northern Uganda and South Sudan were devastated by the terror of Joseph Kony and the LRA. Entire communities were shattered, with young children abducted and forced to commit atrocities against their own families, neighbors, and friends. Girls as young as thirteen were forced to become sex slaves for Kony’s officers.
Now, the war is over, but the brutal conflict has deeply scarred the people of Uganda. Child soldiers return to the very communities they committed violent crimes against, carrying deep trauma. Girls—now young women—carry the constant reminder of their abuse: their captors’ children.
These young families are often ostracized by their communities, and most lack the skills they need to provide for themselves and their children. Where the world saw outcasts and victims, Sister Rosemary saw strength, resilience, and beloved children of God.
The Heart of Our Mission
Sister Rosemary lived through the horror created by Kony’s LRA and now works to heal the wounds he inflicted on her people. She opened the doors of Saint Monica’s Vocational School in Gulu, Uganda, to his victims—starting a powerful global mission.
Through vocational training, young women gain independence and the skills to provide for their children. Through community with fellow students, they find forgiveness. Through the restoration of their lost futures, they find hope.

The Sewing Hope Foundation helps Sister Rosemary’s vision become a sustainable reality. We are guided by her work and raise the critical funds needed to run and expand her on-the-ground programs.
